Collective social work intervention in early intervention contexts: reflection and practice
DOI:
https://doi.org/10.32061/RTS2026.230.09Abstract
This article explores alternative forms of social intervention that complement individual approaches, to be adopted by social work professionals in the field of early intervention.
Contemporary social reality is complex and constantly evolving, with the emergence of new family and cohabitation models. In this new context characterised by the multi-causality and interdependence of the challenges faced by families, who are the focus of our work, it becomes evident that group structures (families and professionals), when they think and act together, can develop greater knowledge and competence. At the same time, this enhances the quality of interventions and contributes to greater professional satisfaction.
This work aims to encourage the exploration of social intervention approaches aligned with the new challenges faced by social workers in this evolving context. The group model enables families to feel supported and to share their experiences, fostering mutual support relationships. Network-based collaboration is also proposed, integrating different disciplines and services in order to provide a comprehensive response to the needs of children and their families.
The article presents two practical experiences as examples of collective intervention, both in group work and in the development of professional networks. These approaches emphasise relationships as a key instrument for change and improvement, restoring the central role they should never have lost. Both intervention models share common objectives, such as strengthening mutual support through the sharing of knowledge and resources to sustain an environment that promotes children’s development and well-being.
