This review analyzes the Manual of Intervention Models in Social Work as a work that, beyond its didactic nature, maps the contemporary field of social work, highlighting the tensions between technical approaches focused on individual intervention and critical perspectives oriented toward structural transformation. The text emphasizes its contribution in linking theory and practice, showing how each model implies specific conceptions of the social problem, the subject, and the professional role. It also underscores the limitations of classical models in analyzing structural inequalities and values the incorporation of critical approaches (decolonial, feminist, ecosocial, and Marxist) that broaden and challenge the epistemological foundations of social work. The review points out the compartmentalization of models and the need for greater articulation between approaches, emphasizing dialogue among them as an ethical and political horizon. Overall, the manual is valued as a relevant tool for training, research, and practice, inviting a critical rethinking of the foundations and positions of social work in the face of contemporary challenges.
